Promoting Menstrual Health Awareness at Collège Saint-Pio in Bukavu

Buene Hope Foundation, through its initiative Buene Pads, conducted another impactful outreach at Collège Saint-Pio, located in Bukavu, South Kivu (Kadutu commune).

This visit is part of the foundation’s continued commitment to empowering young girls through menstrual health education and support.

Educating to Empower

Menstrual health remains a sensitive and often misunderstood topic in many communities. Without proper education, young girls may experience confusion, fear, and even miss school during their periods.

During this session, the Buene Pads team engaged students in an open and interactive discussion aimed at:

  • Explaining the menstrual cycle in a clear and simple way
  • Promoting proper hygiene practices
  • Breaking myths and cultural taboos
  • Encouraging confidence and self-acceptance

The session created a safe environment where girls felt comfortable to learn and ask questions freely.

Supporting Girls with Essential Resources

To complement the awareness session, the foundation provided practical support to the students.

Each participant received:

  • Hygienic sanitary pads
  • Educational books on menstrual health

These materials are vital in helping girls manage their menstruation safely, comfortably, and with dignity.

Building Confidence and Protecting Education

By addressing menstrual health, Buene Hope Foundation is contributing to more than just hygiene; it is helping protect girls’ right to education.

When girls are equipped with the right knowledge and resources, they are more likely to:

  • Attend school consistently
  • Participate confidently in class
  • Maintain their self-esteem

A Continued Commitment

This activity reflects the ongoing efforts of the Buene Pads project to create lasting impact in communities across South Kivu.

Buene Hope Foundation continues to stand at the forefront of promoting:

  • Health
  • Dignity
  • Education

for young girls.
